What Normal High School Students Listen To: A Playlist by Joy Oshomuvwe

Just a bunch of my faves at the moment, nothing special just chill/low-key bangers to me.

Check out Joy's Playlist here:

We asked senior Joy Oshomuvwe to compile a playlist for us. She did. But, how does she have such great taste, you ask? Joy answers.

How did you develop your music taste over the years? Are there any influences? I would say my older sister, Lydia, has had the greatest influence on my taste. When I first started getting into music my taste was basically her taste, but now we our styles have diverged with me delving into RnB and chill music. I normally find new music from anywhere (commercials, shows, suggestions, literally anything lol) and spend a day searching for new artists every couple of months, it’s one of my fave pastimes. How would you describe your music taste? I would say it’s a mixture of a bunch of genres. It really depends on how or what I’m feeling, but mainly like to stick with a certain type of beat (according to Maggie). For the most part, I would say its chill/low-key music that you can still bump to or turn up to when feeling it. What would you never listen to? Straight up Country or Heavy Metal. Never. What's your favorite song or album? This is really hard, but I’ve really been into Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight (BITTSM) by Travis Scott and Praise Break by Daniel Caesar. How has your taste in music changed over the years? I used to be really into all the basic pop/radio hits, knowing every word, and over the years I’ve strayed away from that. I mean I still bump to some of the radio hits, but I’ve gotten more into Rap/Hip Hop, Christian and RnB.
