Meet Your 2017-2018 Editors!

The Echo is an online newspaper written by OSSM students for OSSM students. Created two years ago, The Echo has just ushered in a second class of editors, all of with are a part of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Class of 2018.

Jahnavi Nikkam-Student Life Column

Outside of her school, Jahnavi enjoys reading, writing, social media, creating Youtube videos, and sleeping.

Jahnavi immediately wanted to be part of The Echo when she saw the voice that it gave to OSSM students. Writing is something she's always been passionate about since it allows her to articulate her points in ways that she ordinarily could not or would not.

Fun fact about Jahnavi: She is 4 ft. 10 in. tall and should have to ride in a booster seat when she drives her car.

Grace Johnson-Student Life Column

In her spare time, Grace participates in Speech and Debate, bakes, and take care of her many different plants. After OSSM, she would like to pursue a Ph.D in Environmental Science/Policy, as well as continue to study botany.

Grace joined The Echo because she wanted to take an active role in OSSM's student body and expand her writing skills.

Fun fact about Grace: As a kid, she raised a pet cow named Kaylee May.

Joe Coyer-Humanities Column

When he is not at OSSM, Joe spends his time basket weaving, bread making, and collecting vintage boots. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in accounting.

Kelsy Fu-Humanities Column

Kelsy spends her spare time and weekends watching anime/manga, reading, writing, playing video games, and eating good food. Most of all, she enjoys petting dogs.

Last year, Kelsy submitted an article under the previous editors. She joined the organization this year because she thought it would be fun to be more involved.

Fun fact about Kelsy: The watermelon in the above picture was not harmed in any way.

Lydia Wang-Science Column

When she is not writing for The Echo, Lydia enjoys dancing, creating art, and reading. Her favorite subjects are Biology, Chemistry, History, English, and Literature. She hopes to earn a MBA/MD in the future.

Lydia joined The Echo because she was really impressed with the quality of the journal and wanted to help out. She also thought it was a great fit for her since she enjoys writing and anything related to public relations or publicity.

Fun fact about Lydia: She loves Korean culture and Japanese anime, but is Chinese.

Bella Ngo-Compositor

As the compositor, Bella manages the website and reviews any articles that are uploaded. Essentially, she makes this entire show run smoothly.

Bella enjoys reading, playing piano, watching TV/YouTube, and hanging out with friends. Her favorite subjects in school are history and computer science and in the future, she hopes to find a career that will allow her become involved with projects that help protect the environment and improve people's lives. She joined The Echo to learn more about journalism and managing a website.

Fun fact about Bella: She can sing the alphabet backwards.

As The Echo's 2017-2018 editors, we can't wait to hear from OSSM's entire student body throughout the year and work to let everyone's voices be heard!
