On January 20, OSSM CADfish went to play their robot at the FTC Qualifiers in Muskogee. We were one of two teams selected to ally the top team. At the end of the day, our whole alliance won the finals match! We will be advancing to State for the second time in four years of doing FTC! To share this proud achievement, here are some insights from members of CADfish on our experiences thus far at the Qualifiers...

We came into the competition with, what I would call, a very "sketchy" robot. It needed a lot of work and testing until it would be a decent robot. This all added up to really low chances of winning. We went through the rounds, some okay, others weren't so much. After the first rounds the four top teams were choosing their allies. And we were chosen. I honestly believe we were chosen thanks to our spirit team. They were some of the most friendly people at the competition, and that is why we were chosen. Not because we were good, not because we had the best robot, but because we had our spirit team. We then went to the final rounds and won with our team of allies. And I am immensely grateful the spirit was there in all of this.

My opinion on qualifiers was that they were filled with a lot of stress. I, and pretty much everybody else around, was unaware of why there were problems with the robot until nearly the end of the competition. However, in the end it all worked out well.

Amidst our screaming as Spirit team and the general excitement in the air, the team felt unified. We were all proud to be team 8825.

Being able to be a part of the FIRST robotics team at OSSM has been a wonderful experience. Being able to work with a group of other bright minded individuals has been an eye opening experience as to what a team actually is.

It was a really fun experience, especially being on spirit team.

Going into State, I'm very excited. It's our second time to qualify in our four years as a team, so it's a pretty big deal. Our team has gone through a lot of chaos and hecticness this year, so to be going really feels like a well-earned reward for all our hard work.. I'm counting down the days until State!
